The Rapido Saga

1971

The RAPIDO caravan was presented at many invention trade shows and each time the jury was won over by the ingenuity and clever features that made the RAPIDO so extraordinary.

  • 1st prize in the LEPINE competition and the gold award
  • Grand prix and Gold Award at the Brussels International Inventions Trade Show
  • Gold Award of the city of Paris
  • President of the Republic's Prize
  • And more recently it has received the AJP (association of outdoor pursuit journalists) Oscar


1977

At the Bourget trade show, RAPIDO produced another innovation, presenting a model the like of which had never been seen before: This trailer's design bore no resemblance to any of the models already on the market. Once again RAPIDO was keen to stand out from the crowd The new range was named the GOLF range.

The first low-slung caravans with retractable hard tops were born.

A few days before going on holiday, Mr Constant ROUSSEAU built an extendable trailer for his personal use that had a hard roof to which he attached a canvas structure. This first folding caravan was such a success on the camp sites that he took away several orders. The "RAPIDO" brand was born.
